Been crazy busy lately but I’ve been listening a fair amount on repeat. First pass I had relatively few feelings for it, for a JW release. Independence Day stood out from the Insta videos but otherwise it seemed a bit flat and had a sameness throughout that I didn’t care for. Over time, I’ve discovered the nuances of it and some of the really strong lines, and now I’m liking it a lot more. I agree with Daniel that Afraid No More is a bit FWYA-esque, and Gresham is very You Can Shake The Mountains (fine for me, that’s one of my all-time favourites). I find ANM very similar chord progression-wise to Dear Pain, which is my least favourite quality of this EP. The words to Dear Pain are quite poetic, in a similar vein to Clarity (singing to an emotion or feeling), but musically that’s actually the least interesting one for me. 4/4 time for everything is a bit disappointing too; he can be more creative and that’s the one that feels like it needs it. I actually love Polarities; it’s lack of peaks and valleys is sort of trance-like for me, unique for his writing style and I think after four songs with heavy content it fades the EP out very well. My biggest wish is that he re-recorded Eighties for this release. Although these are primarily about 30-40 year old moments in his life, I feel like it would fit right in as a contrasting element; these are so raw they practically take you back there, and that was moreso from back then. Give it a few hours of repeat and come back to it

I have an odd question. On Spotify and his Facebook Page, the first track is listed as Independence Day. On my physical copy that I (finally) got in the mail, the back of the CD lists it as "Indepenance Day". What's up with that? Do you think it's meant to be a play on independence/penance or a weird typo since no where else lists it that way?

Looks like AllsWell needs to hire a proofreader.
