I have a few questions. Is the ALLSWELL records a Jason project? Is the super promotion to øzwald part of a contract? If so... Could Lifehouse sign to ALLSWELL and do some vintage stuff? I believe Jason started a label and Allswell is it. Could Lifehouse be a part of it? Possibly. Lifehouse albums cost a pretty penny to make because they bring in some talented producers and mixers. Distribution is totally different these days though, so they’d have to sign a deal for distribution. With Apple Music and Spotify now, you don’t have to print up a couple hundred thousand copies because that’s not how people listen now....BUT they’d still need a distributor. They’d sell a solid number of vinyl and CDs through their site, so that would need to be an undertaking for a distribution company.

What's everyone thoughts on Born In A State? I just got through my first listen and I gotta say I almost love all songs on this record. Love Worth The Wait, Lies In Disguise, Steady Your Focus and Call of the Doctor.

Steady your focus, title track and worth the wait are stand outs, but the whole record is a little boring. I just miss Lifehouse... Øzwald is well, but I can't really connect

I'm more a fan of the Beatles sound of Sweet Delirium than the Wilco sound of this new album, but I appreciate that with each group of songs they strive for something different (like most of the Lifehouse records). Both this one and the last are concept albums through and through, which is very different for Jason and something I absolutely love. I'll have to listen to it a few more times, but like the former album there are some very creative instrumentations and licks throughout the tracks to keep my attention. Almost all of them seem to start out rather sleepily before waking up part way through. Curiously, these ten tracks are completely different than the twelve songs they registered with BMI back in the summer. Is there an album #3 already in the works? In any case, I love seeing Jay this busy and excited about music and writing again

Øzwald is well, but I can't really connect I couldn't agree more, and I appreciate that you put it in a more positive way than I would have. 1st album makes my general playlist even if I do have to be in a specific mood for it, but 2nd album I absolutely will not put a single $1 toward. I want to support Jason in everything he does, but at the same time I just can't put money into encouraging more of what this 2nd album brought. Overall, this is a hard pass for me and I wish more than ever for some return to Lifehouse or solo stuff.

I wanted to get into these albums because I want to enjoy new music from Jason, but I'm having a hard time getting into them.

This "2 albums a year" thing is not sooooo so good. 'Cause sometimes quantity isn't quality. Sweet Delirium was an awesome record. I love almost every track from that. But BIAS sounds forced in some songs (total prequel, call off the doctor, lies in disguise...) they sound like the b-sides from the b-sides. It's a little like the rappers releasing everything they write in mixtapes. The cicles of the albums are important for the quality of the songs.

I was. It was more of the same. The sound, style, vibe... All the same. They showed a solo song from Jason and it was basically an Øzwald song without Steve's voice (what I really liked by the way)

I agree that it can be a lot more enjoyable to hear less music, but good music, rather than 20-something tracks a year that can kinda ramble on. That said, I had a terrible headache yesterday and put on Born In A State, and it was all that I was up to listen to and felt great in that circumstance! I'm happy with experimentation if it yields something I can come back to once in a while... but Sweet Delirium for me still feels like it's part of the lineage of JW/LH music. No Name Face, Stanley Climbfall, Lifehouse, Who We Are, Smoke & Mirrors, Almería, Paper Cuts, Out of the Wasteland, Sweet Delirium, and maybe Gresham (?) for the main instalments, and Highways & Low Days, Winzlo, Covers, Born In a State, and Demoes as the smaller side projects. I wonder if this new JW song is for Demoes Vol.2?

I think it is for the Demoes 2. The dream is still alive. The guys get back together to make at least a last record. But to see Jason singing without Steve and that high pitched voice mash up they do is a massive victory to me after Born In A State 😂😂 I'm waiting for more solo material and maybe 2021 an Øzwald stuff would be 'worth the wait'.

J and Steve have registered a few more songs with BMI! Here are the titles: Manzanita Head Movies Scattered After the Glowin' Some Kind of Magic Bon Voyage Bewilderness Daydreams (Head for the Clouds) Hollow Queen LA Tempestad Flashes In The Light It Was Thats twelve tracks... I wonder if another LP is coming? They sure have been busy lately. On instagram, J and Steve just announced their new album Head Movies coming out June 19 (with a cool vinyl cover they showed), with Manzanita (coming out tonight) as the first single. So far to me this one has the warmth of Born in a State with the fuller production sound of Sweet Delirium. Looking forward to it... let's assume that this is the tracklist (they were uploaded to BMI in this order last August, so it would make sense that this was the order they had in mind back then).

Side note: Jason said he views Ozwald as a project to explore their creativity without alienating the Lifehouse fan base, so that both groups can carry on at the same time and enjoy their time with both projects

I really really like Manzanita. Looking forward to the other tracks. IIRC, they also announced 2nd single to come 3 weeks before the new album comes
