calvin noticed that lifehousemusic.com briefly mentions a Greatest Hits Collection coming out June 30th! (Shout out to you for that!) Alright folks, place your tracklist predictions! I'm really hoping for an official release of the acoustic version of Take Me Away - Spin
- Blind
- First Time
- Between the Raindrops
- You and Me
- Hanging By A Moment
- Broken
- Halfway Gone
- Whatever It Takes
- Hurricane
- Take Me Away
- Everything
I wonder whether they'll include every single single, or just the biggest ones? There are sixteen singles including Flight, and Everything *has* to be there, so that's at least seventeen songs that are ready to choose. Maybe they'll include live performances too?

Thanks kingcarl and I think it might include every single, similar to the greatest hits albums some artists get such as goo goo dolls and switchfoot. As for the tracklist I would switch out first time with flight but in my mind i think your tracklist is more realistic if every single was not featured.

Ooh good find! They've released 17 singles (including Flight which technically never went to radio) so that means we're not just getting the singles. Very curious how it will be curated, whether every single is included plus Everything and something else or whether it will be more nuanced...

Carl, are you counting the singles that flopped like Make Me Over, Nobody Listen, and One For The Pain? Wasn't there a planned third single for the Lifehouse record? My brain is failing me presently.

Not counting those ones... I think Make Me Over was never actually a single, there was just a semi-official video made for it that was part of some university project and the band made a cameo. Nobody Listen was an abandoned single in the sense that an album cover was made and everything and it was quietly pulled along with the tour, while the One for the Pain CD I bought had a strange single version with some crappy editing to omit the solo (thinking it was a scam tbh). They made a lyric video for Runaways so I always figured that would have been the second single; really I think either would have been better than Hurricane as single #1 but that's just me Lifehouse record was before my time as a fan, but you've piqued my interest! I do feel as though Days Go By was being groomed as a third single, or maybe All In All since they still play it a lot. Perhaps Come Back Down too... Ok, my guesses (not my ideal list but what I'm expecting): - Hanging By A Moment
- Sick Cycle Carousel
- Somewhere In Between
- Everything
- Spin
- Sky Is Falling
- Take Me Away
- You and Me
- Blind
- All In All
- First Time
- Whatever It Takes
- Broken
- All In
- Halfway Gone
- Between the Raindrops
- Right Back Home
- Hurricane
- Flight

Do you mean Breathing as opposed to Somewhere In Between? That was a proper single and I remember it doing better than SSC at the time. Honestly, HBAM was such a monster, any following single didn't have a chance.
I definitely agree with most your list. In regard to the third single from the self titled album, you guessed mine. Maybe We'll Never Know, but I'm like you, the band must have a spot for All In All in their hearts with how much it's played over more obvious choices.
Dang Carl, it would have been good to have you around in the early days. I think we are cut from the same cloth.

One last random thought, the cover of Somewhere Only We Know was a pretty big deal online at the time. I think if there's a cover to add, that might be it.
Still hoping for two new songs from the vault.

Still hoping for two new songs from the vault. Haha I think we are! Wow Brian that made my day I actually did mean Somewhere In Between, though I know Breathing was the real single. Nowadays that song is barely touched while SIB is played at literally every acoustic show and almost every live show in the medley, so between that and it being featured on some shows and whatnot I really think they would pick it over Breathing for the Best Of. Surprised that it did better than SSC, since the band always says 'oh Breathing was a flop' but I guess you're right that it was swallowed whole by HBAM. Same with Blind, didn't stand a chance (though I still hear it on the radio to this day, which is cool). I never thought about putting a cover on it... that would be pretty cool! SOWK is the well-known one, but they've done several others live too like Pump It Up in '06 and Hello There in 2010; there's also Something by George Harrison! Two new songs would be epically good, but suuuuuper unlikely at this point with them focusing on their solo projects Ah one can dream!

Actually this is an interesting thing to think about: what were the more lasting songs, or the ones that the band liked the best, from each album? Not necessarily singles, but the songs that felt like singles based on how much they were played and when (i.e. on special shows, etc.). Here's what I figure:
No Name Face HBAM SSC Only One Simon Somewhere In Between Everything
Stanley Climbfall Spin Sky Is Falling Am I Ever Gonna Find Out Take Me Away Empty Space
Lifehouse You and Me Blind All In All Better Luck Next Time Days Go By The End Has Only Begun (around 2010 it was played a lot)
Who We Are Disarray First Time Whatever It Takes Broken Make Me Over Storm
Smoke & Mirrors All In Nerve Damage Halfway Gone It Is What It Is Falling In Wrecking Ball Crash & Burn
Almería Gotta Be Tonight Between the Raindrops Nobody Listen Only You're The One
Out of the Wasteland Hurricane One for the Pain Flight Runaways Wish Stardust
Tbh it's hard to judge for OOTW because it had one special press thing (the Guitar Centre sessions) where they played Hurricane, OFTP, Stardust, and Alien... but the others seem to me to be the tracks that are still in contention.

That's a pretty solid list and there isn't much to disagree with. I think From Where You Are should be added to it though. I think that one is very, very close to Jason's heart. I believe in the promo for the State Farm ad it was composed for, Jason opened up about losing a classmate or something like that. The other song that maybe should get a place is Chapter One. It was pretty clear during the lead up to the Lifehouse record that it was his favorite even though it would never be a single. It opened the majority of shows during that time period. I think part of it was showing off a song he's proud of and part showing off his abilities on another instrument. I use "showing off" with respect. There's a certain grandstanding visually with this band and that's fine to a point. It was actually my big problem with Ben, he was a bit too much of a show off. Between the gestures and especially the list from a couple of years ago showing the set and what to say, I don't think any of us will argue the poor visuals at times. What I'm getting at is that the opening with Chapter One (which I love) just seemed to be about something other than the song. Rant over.
J, play more piano live. Chapter One, Learn You Inside Out, Signs of Life, Flight....you can do it, buddy.

Oh wow yeah I meant to include From Where You Are too in my list... Agreed that Ben's arm motions and angry faces were pretty showy. Steve is more reserved which is cool, reminds me of young Jason! And I never knew it opened a lot of their sets before, that's so cool! I remember reading an interview where J said Chapter One was his favourite. Don't forget Aftermath and Hourglass in that keys list too, and Penelopieces if it counts!

Oh Aftermath, how could I forget that? Literally one of my favorite songs from the later albums. Very simple to play too, so I know he could pull it off. Oh yeah, Chapter One opened every show or at least one leg of the self titled tour. I'm thinking back now and I can't recall if Jason debuted I Want You to Know on piano. I can't remember. I agree with your comment about Steve. Sean will always be my favorite, but Steve is right behind him. Spot on observation about him being like a younger Jason. I don't think he has the stage freight that Jason did, but you can tell he's not totally comfortable up there. You can see he's in it for the music and not the show.

Would people here like to see a Jason solo acoustic tour eventually? Just a guy, his guitar/piano, and stories. It seems to be the thing to do for lead singers in between band tours.
The solo songs released would fit that type of gig. Annnnd hearing Penelopieces live would be amazing. That's one heck of a song.
