Wasn't Today from the SCF sessions? I'm working on my tracklists right now. I always love doing this. Who We Are is really tough to change, but the b-sides are top notch.
Just for our own info, let's do an album by album list of outtakes/b-sides. It might make it easier for some to piece together.
NNF: What's Wrong With That, Fool, Fairy Tales Sandcastles, God's Lemonade (but there isn't a good download version.
SCF: Wish, How Long, Today
Lifehouse: Everybody is Someone, Good Enough, Along The Way, Better Part of Me, Midnight in Philadelphia, Butterfly, Ordinary Pain, Running Away
Who We Are: Signs of Life, I Want You To Know, If This Is Goodbye, I'll Keep The Change
Smoke and Mirrors: Best of Me, Crash and Burn, Don't Wake Me When It's Over, Near Life Experience, All That I'm Asking For
Almeria: Always Somewhere Close, Rolling Off The Stone, Lady Day, Pins and Needles
I'm sure I'm missing a couple. I'm half asleep and the old brain is slow.

Hey guys... What about a dream tracklist with non-singles songs of LH's albums? You can take songs that wasn't singles from all of the albums to do it your way.. Here is mine: This is what supoused to be an album I call Coming Of Age: All That I'm Asking For (Third Single) Quasimodo (First Single) Undone (Second Single) Sky Is Falling (Promotional Single) Come Back Down Only You're The one How Long Smoke & Mirrors Right Back Home Storm Everything (Fourth Single) Bridges
There are so many better combinations but it is a possibility. Hope you enjoy it!

I didn't know Today was a Climbfall-session song? It was registered on BMI just prior to the rest of the self-titled era. I know Better Part of Me was from some time in 2002 or 2003, as was Midnight in Philly. Ordinary Pain was an old song, since J wrote it with Stuart Mathis; it's probably from around 2001 or so seeing as he left when Sean joined in 2002. Today was strange in that it was produced by Jude when SCf was Ron and Lifehouse was John Alagia. They actually released it as a promo single on iTunes in Canada a week before the self-titled album dropped here! I think Good Enough was written after the Lifehouse sessions. And don't forget Goodbye, which was from 1999 or 2000.

I'm about 90% certain that Today is from the SCF sessions. I do vaguely recall it being released before the LH record and it being mentioned that it was older. I didn't include Goodbye because the studio version (at least that I have is shit quality and feels like its cut short. I hope there's a better one and someone could send it my way. It's a brilliant son

I think Goodbye was one of Jason's songs from Ian Mering's movie All Over Again. I know the band performed it once or twice live, the song really comes alive on stage (way spookier and more eerie). Here's where I got the studio version I have: youtu.be/tgav0hjYqsUThe live version is here: youtu.be/K7v72M_pcIMWhen Jason releases Paper Cuts we'll hear the full version, said it should be reminiscent of Elliott Smith

I remember the lyrics of Today sitting on the LifehouseFans website back around the time when SCF came out. I loved the lyrics and was stoked when I saw the track listed as a bonus track on the UK S/T release. While this was over 10 years ago, I could be remembering it wrong but I always assumed it was written well before the S/T era.

Elliott is IMO one of the greatest songwriters of all time.

I wouldn't have thought of starting with Chapter One and Running Away... coming from Stanley Climbfall they make for quite a statement as to the sound of this album. I think Chapter One would have worked well as an intro song if it was shorter, it sort of drags in this case. Better Luck leads really nicely into Blind, which is great. I'm quite surprised that you took out Days Go By, but adding Good Enough, Ordinary Pain and Midnight in Philly were good calls. The last five flow really well. Nice work Brian!

Thanks man. Days Go By was actually the first cut. It is waaaay too "music by numbers". It was cool to make Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, but it didn't belong on the record.

As the release day for Out of the Wasteland comes to a close, I figure I'll share another 'Robert Edition': 1. Hurricane 2. One for the Pain 3. Runaways 4. Firing Squad 5. Angeline 6. Alien 7. Hindsight 8. Central Park 9. Hurt This Way 10. Stardust 11. Flight 12. Yesterday's Son 13. Hourglass
--Deluxe Edition-- 14. Exhale 15. Wish --Collector's Edition-- 14. Exhale 15. Clarity 16. Après La Vie 17. Wish
My first move was switching Wish with Angeline; Wish works well as a bonus track, but I think Angeline is the stronger song of the two (and perhaps it meshes better with the rest of the album). I then added Hindsight, moving Stardust to after HTW (I think it flows better). Moving Flight to a spot near the end of the album was also key, and the piano interlude at the start of Yesterday's Son is really nice after the Flight crescendo. I'd also make a hypothetical "collector's edition" and pack it full of bonus tracks from the Paper Cuts sessions (and any other songs lingering around).
Try it out!

Alright. Carl did it, so here's my take on retracking Out of the Wasteland. Just a standard version w/ no bonus tracks.
01- Hindsight 02- Flight 03- Yesterday's Son 04- One for the Pain 05- Firing Squad 06- Hurricane 07- Hurt This Way 08- Central Park 09- H20 10- Exhale 11- Angeline 12- Hourglass
Sorry Runaways... Sorry Stardust. You're one of my favorites, but you just don't fit.
It's impossible to get a mix of rock and melody on here. LOTS of mellow songs to choose from.

ledvedderman Agreed, I was just thinking this morning that this is probably Lifehouse's mellowest release since the self-titled. It's very tricky to make a flowing tracklist for this album, so I give them props for structuring it decently well. I think H2O would have fit on the album but I'm still unsure about Exhale... I do wish that Angeline made it (pun wholeheartedly intended), in fact if they wanted to I think they could modify and release it as a single.

Actually... I did a mistake. H20 comes before Flight in my tracklist. Flight closes the album with a gold key. Like Everythong
