I'm a bit worried...
I could've sworn we've all heard or read about Jason repeatedly shooting down questions about going solo because he feels at home with his band, Lifehouse. Not to mention, how many people have ever recognized the name Jason Wade? He's not a frontman that has ever put his name out there on its own really. He's at least come off as being very committed to "we are Lifehouse."
Next, if he knew he was going to be doing this, and assuming it's an amicable and only temporary break during which he was planning on solo material, why on earth did he not put his name out there at all? No promotions...didn't seem like any of them cared about Almeria or touring... could have created a separate Jason Wade twitter/facebook/etc page to start making a name for himself on the heels of LH? I don't think any of that would have taken away from LH or anything...

A letter from Jason:at this time to shake hands with Geffen, go our separate ways and begin a new chapter. It was about a fucking time! Finnally something which WILL shake up his/their sound and music. Any (good) news about Jude?

I am not too worried, as long it will bring good music and will make them all happier as musicians. I am also relieved it was finally Jason who decided to clear things up, most of us knew there must be something behind that silence.
I bet they will work hard in the next months/years but I think it won't be that difficult for them as it was after Stanley Climbfall when Dreamworks went bancrupt. Times are different for artists and record labels , maybe it's good news they can work without the burden of the label's expectations. And as they're good friends, I don't expect them to split up.

I'm not surprised they've parted ways with Geffen. At the end of the day, Lifehouse have been recording and touring pretty much consistently since 2000. I guess they've reached a point where they need a collective break to recharge their batteries and try other things.
I think Elliott Smith's inspiration on Jason will be most evident in his upcoming solo work. I think it'll be very stripped back, organic, back to basics, maybe a lot like the song "Along the Way". It makes me wonder if Jason will open his own website and Facebook page to support his solo career.
It sounds very exciting and interesting.

personally, I am torn between being happy and sad...(that´s just me though, it will go away..I do not think this all is a bad thing, actually prolly a very good thing, but since I am only human I am a bit sad that we will probably not see them tour live in Europe very soon, and I miss them. Musically, this could be a good move to freshen up things, to get new perspectives etc.

I never said anything about Jason "wanting to make a name for himself with LH." I said if he knew he was planning on doing solo work, and if it was an amicable split, I don't get why he did NOT try to put his name out there at all (ie: no Jason Wade facebook/twitter/etc). Seems that he could have been a little more active, and that this would not have been offensive to the rest of the guys since they're all going to do their own thing. Bryce is always posting on his personal account (twitter), and I don't believe that takes away from Lifehouse at all ---

I think Jason will eventually create a twitter and what not but probably closer to when he releases his own music. I'm sure the break is relatively recent, just give it time I'm sure he will promote himself eventually.

Bryce was at the Playboy radio yesterday and he said they won't be touring much, they will only do some one offs and they will focus on their solo projects now but after that they will get back together.

I don't know what to think of the news. On the one hand, it might be a good thing that they are taking a break. As many of you mentioned, it might bring a fresh perspective on things and it may change the direction of the sound that Lifehouse was heading towards. On the other hand, I will miss the band. They were such a great team. I will miss hearing them play all the Lifehouse oldies.... I also wonder if Jason will take Rick along on this solo adventure of his. They seem inseparable. Also, when will we be getting some news on his solo album? I would love to hear some snippets. Would it be totally different from what we've heard from Lifehouse in the past? I cannot imagine Jason going techno

Have you ever considered that maybe Jason doesn't really care much about getting his name out but is only doing this solo album to discover new things creatively and to improve himself as a musician? He doesn't need to sell a lot of CDs as solo artist. He is making enough from royalties and other Lifehouse sales as it is... I think this is purely a creative mission for him. To find that spark again within himself and break lose of the expectations and directions the label (and people) placed on him, and a chance to just be himself again and write his music.
