I haven't really commented much in the last month, so I decided to share some positive updates for me. I just moved into a great apartment in downtown Grand Rapids. It has a fantastic view of the city and it's really close to all of my friends and family. Also, I quit my job at the horrible fiberglass factory, so no more 10 hour days at work while going to school full time. I was also awarded enough financial aid to pay for living expenses so I only have to focus on school for the next year. Finally, classes start tomorrow and I'm really excited, it's crazy being a senior already.

Jessi, that's great! Congratulations!

I have to apply for university before September 30 (so I have exactly 31 days left). But I'm so nervous about being rejected, I find myself continually putting it off. :\ Someone, give me a boot up the backside so I'll get myself together enough to do this.

I know in Australia, we just need to pass our Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery, and that qualifies us to be a doctor. But for you guys, apparently, there's some pre-med program we have to take first? Any information would be really good. Thanks.

I never studied to be a doctor, but I think it's 4 years of college (to get your BA or BS) and then 4 years of medical school (to get your MD). Then you have to do a residency program (3-8 years depending on your field). And there are all the tests that you have to take during those years.. SAT, MCAT, boards, etc.

But for you guys, apparently, there's some pre-med program we have to take first? Any information would be really good. Thanks. you do not need to be in a pre-med program to get into medical school but most schools require that you take certain classes (those generally include at least 1 year of biology, 1 year general chemistry, 1 year organic chemistry, 1 year physics, etc.). you can get into medical school with a bachelors in any degree, as long as you have taken the required classes. most of the people i know in med school were biology majors but one of my friends was a philosophy and neuroscience double major so there really isn't any limit. when you apply to med school they take into account your transcript, MCAT scores, interviews, and letters of reccomendation. then once you get in it's like laura said, 4 years of med school, a residency that's at least 3 years, and all the exams and boards taken throughout that process. if you have any questions feel free to PM me. if i don't know the answer i know people who will.

Thanks guys. That seems like an insane amount of work! Still, worth a shot. I'll give it a go. Thanks again! I did submit my applications to universities here, so, we'll see.

I'm so excited! I get to see David Cook next week!!
I didn't plan on going to this show because of money/scheduling issues, then I found out my friend was going and I REALLY wanted to go lol. For the past week or so I've been scouring the internet for tickets, and I posted on my DC message board that I was looking for one. It's 3.5 hrs away and I have an 8:30 am class the next morning, so the next day will NOT be fun. Plus I have to skip my chem lab. Not good. This all considered, I was only going to go if I could find a ticket within the first 8 or 9 rows or so. But yesterday someone I sort of know on the board messaged me and offered me her ticket...in the front row! Can't believe it! Wasn't expecting that at all!
The bad thing is...my friend who got her ticket a couple of weeks ago is in the 7th or 8th row. I feel bad about that, but I feel even worse because I kept whining to her about how I wanted to go and talking about how depressed I was over it. I feel like a horrible person, and I almost want to give her the ticket and take hers. I'm such a loser! Maybe I should do that...

^congrats breann! if you're feeling selfish (can't say i'd blame you) and don't want to give up your seat for the whole set maybe you could switch with her in the middle of the show or something?
