WARNING: this concert recap is EXTREMELY long. I was bored and just kept typing and typing. Don't feel obligated to read it all, but hopefully you will. lol...
I just got back from my show a few hours ago, lol. It was last night. You should have said you were going to see him!! I am SO SO SO jealous that you got to hear The World I Know. Ever since he started doing it at shows a couple of weeks ago I prayed and prayed he would do it at my show (it was one of my favorite Idol performances...LOVE...IT). Of course, he didn't do it. I was extremely disappointed.
Anyway...on with it. Oh, and thanks for the videos!! I am definitely going to watch them in a bit.

That might be a little wrong...lol. I posted on my David message board and I'm hoping someone will tell me if it's right.
Anyway, my friend and I drove over to Macomb, IL (Western Illinois University) Monday night. Out hotel wasn't the best to begin with, and the guy at the front desk was rude. We woke up Tuesday morning and my friend told me she realized that her sheets were dirty, so that was nasty. I am paranoid so I put a do not disturb thing on the door when we left because I didn't want the housekeeper to go in there, lol. She ended up asking for new sheets when we got back that night, and the guy at the front desk was like, "why did you put that sign on there, why didn't you ask for them this morning, blah blah...next time you go to a hotel you need to do this..." I was like, whatever, man!! What kind of a manager/employee/whatever are you?? You're not supposed to say things like that to customers!! You should just give them the friggin sheets!! lol...I was annoyed.
We were planning to drive over and get in line at 8 am, but we ended up there at about 9:45 lol. We had gotten to the hotel at almost 2 am, then we had to unpack and organize a few things...needless to say I didn't really want to get up as early as I needed to haha. It took a bit to find a place to park because, like any campus, you had to have a permit to park in most places. That or they were metered, and I didn't want to have to worry about putting money in every few hours. We parked farther away than I would have liked, but it was ok.
We went into the union and the other people in line were inside sitting on couches. The people who had gotten there earliest were there at 5:30 am...yeah. And the next people at 6:30am. Then after that at 8 am or so. Then us. It appeared that only 7 people were there in front of us..but that wasn't the case. They were actually doing one of the things that annoys me the most at shows. They were having some friends join them later. I absolutely HATE when people do that. It is not fair for the people behind them!! Absolutely NOT fair. The 2 people who were first were waiting for 2 people, and the 2 people behind them were waiting for 4. In actuality, there were 12 people in front of us. ****sigh**** Luckily I really had a good time talking to the 3 ladies in front of us, so that made the wait seem a little shorter. She told me some stories from her AI shows that were pretty funny.
When my friend and I arrived, almost immediately the Wicked Witch of the West came out and demanded that we all leave because we weren't allowed to line up until 6pm. We were all like um...what. There is no way we are leaving. She told us we couldn't even line up outside! It was pretty ridiculous. She walked (broomed) off somewhere, so we all just went outside and formed a "line" that wasn't really a "line." We sat on some benches outside the main entrance and tried to look casual, lol. No one said anything to us. The bad thing was, it was NOT warm. lol. It was pretty chilly, and all I had was a jacket. The sun came out occasionally, but not often enough. Plus there was a slight breeze that wasn't pleasant. So we sat there til 5pm, when they finally let us form a line inside. I couldn't believe it though...the line didn't start to get really long until 3 or 4...I expected there to be a huge line before noon!!
After we got inside, we found out some bad news. They were roping off most of the front of the stage as a VIP section. It ended up being about 3/4 of it. If they hadn't done that, I would have been in the front row! I was really disappointed. I ended up in the 2nd row, though, with a pretty decent view of the Davey. However, there was a lot of drama with some of the others. A security guy was trying to make sure the 2 people (a lady and her daughter, who was 15) who got there at 5:30 were able to be in the front. He decided to move the VIP rope a little so that they could fit...but when he did that a few other people shoved themselves into the free space, and pushed the 2 people out of the way. (I didn't see this happening) The people who allegedly pushed them were the girls I have talked about before who have been to almost every one of his shows and are following him on tour. Needless to say, they have had their fair share of being in the front row. Yeah, some of them get there early, but there are always some of them who show up later. They ended up sort of working something out, so that her daughter was in the front and the lady was right behind her, but she was still pretty mad. I would have been, too. I was annoyed because one of the women who had joined the line later (ahead of me) after we had been there for awhile was blocking my view during some of the show. I
wanted to smack her in the back of the head, but I refrained from doing so.
Ryan Star was really great. He was ON that night. When he wasn't playing the guitar, he was all over the stage with the mic lol. I'm not a huge fan of his music, but I was impressed. He was a lot better than the first time I saw him. At the show in Valparaiso, I was about the 5th or 6th row, so I was reasonably closer this time. David was so much closer, lol. There were still heads, arms, and cameras in my videos and pictures..just not as many, haha. I just tried to video around them lol. I got videos of Kiss On the Neck, Avalanche, and Man in the Box. I hope they turned out. I was SO happy about him playing Avalanche. He has barely played it during the tour, so I was lucky to hear it (even though I would have preferred The World I Know, heh). He didn't play my favorite, Life On the Moon, which was disappointing, but at least I got to hear it at the other show.
Overall, the show was pretty awesome. I loved it. David was very talkative and was being hilarious. I got to see firsthand his laugh-and-clap once...for anyone who knows what that is LOL. I was happy about it.
I was debating about whether or not I should leave during Light On to try to get a spot by the bus so I could meet him, but I ended up not wanting to leave my spot. I wanted to spend as much time there as possible, haha. It turned out that I didn't need to anyway...not as many people as I expected went out to wait by the bus (still a lot, but not a ton). It was FREEZING. I had to move around constantly so that I wouldn't become an ice cube. His band members came out there first, and I talked to Kyle (drummer) and Andy (guitar/backup). I had them both sign the back of my ticket, because I was a genius and forgot my CD booklet in the car. I got a photo with Andy, but my friend had no clue how to run my camera. She took 2 when it was zoomed in too far, then another when it was still zoomed in too far but you could see both of our faces (I have no idea what she was thinking...actually there were a few times over the trip that I had no idea what she was thinking, but oh well). I looked absolutely horrible in the picture. My hair was awful. I'm not sure if that photo will see the light of day, lol. I tried to get a photo with Kyle as well, but some other people intercepted him and I couldn't get his attention back. I also tried to get a signature from Joey (guitar), but I couldn't get him to come over to us. The bassist Neal didn't come off the bus until the very end and didn't even get to everyone.
And David...*sigh* I am the world's biggest idiot!! We were on one end of the bus barricade, about 5 people from the end. He came off the bus and announced that he wasn't going to have time for photos, just autographs. I was hoping he would start at the opposite end so I would have time to think about what I could say in the 2 seconds he would have when he got to me, but he came over and started on our end. I was a little out of it at that point. He was standing right there talking and signing things with the first group. There were so many things they wanted signed that he had 30 seconds or so to talk to them, lol. I knew he was coming to me and I was basically frozen with no clue what I was supposed to do. Do I hand him the ticket? Do I wait for him to say something? What do I do?!? Then he looked at me. He LOOKED at me (In my mind I keep seeing his eyeballs looking at me). I managed to hold out the ticket. And I said nothing. I said NOTHING!!! David Cook was standing right in front of me and I did nothing. Omg. I will probably never have the chance to say something to him ever again and I friggin said nothing!! I think I even forgot to say Hi. I can't believe I was so ridiculously stupid.
Gah! At least I remembered to thank him when he handed the ticket back. He probably thought I was a big loser. At least I did. I could go on for awhile more about how depressed I am about this incident, but I won't put anyone through that. lol... If I had to say one positive thing about the situation, I would say at least I was able to remain conscious with him standing that close to me. ;D
I got to sleep in the morning before we left, so that was good.
I am depressed because I want to go to another one and I can't lol.
I'm pretty sure I'm getting a cold now, but I think it's worth it. Since I didn't get my photo with David, this will have to do...

Edit: I have uploaded one video thus far. Unfortunately (as you can read in the sidebar on youtube) my camera does horribly with red lighting for some reason, and they used mainly red lighting for this song. Bleh. lol. Sounds ok though. Not sure if hitting HQ will make a difference, but may as well. lol...
