It's a bit reassuring that the person said if you buy a lifehouse ticket, you'll have access to the site. It's a step up from secret clubs for money. Although, if you're unable to attend a concert, you're screwed. But still, a step up.

actually, she said you don't even need to attend a show. putting in where you're seeing/saw them is just so they know where people are coming from. but she said you won't need to prove you went to a show. so basically, anyone should be able to access the free part.

Well, with that in mind, the fan club seems pretty pointless. So the only thing you get exclusively for paying $40 is pre-sale...and this is Lifehouse so they don't sell out that fast anyway. Then everyone has access to everything else which seems to be leaning toward the way of probably a single online chat a year (which has come up in the past anyway) and footage from the road which umm...I'm pretty sure we've already paid for in buying the DVD....so joining the club gets you the things we should've already had, and at the same time, people who aren't in that forum conversation won't realize the only benefit they get from $40 is pre-sale....

Don't get me wrong, I'm really comforted to know that we won't be left out if we don't have 40 bucks to drop, but now I'm down to my regular questioning of, "What's the point?" So whereas I'm not furious anymore, I still see this as one of those Geffen moves that's all about making Geffen money and that annoys me.

I'm glad to see that there is a bit of convo going on about the new site, we haven't really gone out with any press yet, it's been a bit of a soft launch for us. I didn't want to make too much of a noise about new club until we had the MnG dates confirmed, and the chat date confirmed.

I have to admit that I haven't read every post in this thread, but i intend to - i read the first one and wanted to jump in.

The whole idea of asking people to pay for something only works if we give value for that money. So you definitely won't need to spend $40 to get info, news,video etc. Once the band goes on its own tour, we'll launch something called Virtual Ticket, which is basically a free site membership for every single ticket buyer. The difference between the two memberships is that one level (the paid one) includes presale access, and a member package, and the free membership does not. Seems fair,no?

So don't worry, we'll have a way for all fans to get at the stuff they are already getting now. The difference will be that you now have an option to pay for extras if you want them (package, presale access). Of course, we know that everyone works hard for their $$ so we want to make sure you get your values worth.

Every single ticket for a Lifehouse show (headline shows) means a VT membership. You'll basically go to a page, chose the show you saw, we then issue a promocode that you use to sign up.

One of the things we'll do is have a videographer out on the road with the band on headline shows. So we'll be getting lots of cool footage.

So that means you'll have access to everything they offer (except pre-sales and I believe the little package with the laminate and all that other stuff) by just picking a show and they'll send you a signup code.

hi, is the concern that European fans won't be able to sign up for VT membership because they may not be attending any shows and therefore won't have a ticket?

If that's the concern, don't worry. We're not in any way trying to restrict VT membership, we ask people to select the show they attended really to get a sense of where most people sign up from. We won't be asking for proof of purchase of ticket. So anyone will be able to join as a VT member.

If you won't be intending to purchase presale tickets, then you're just as good having a VT membership.

I don't really have much of a opinion yet mainly because I don't know what's going to be in it. 40 dollars is too much. if somehow, they gave us exclusive downloads like acoustic versions of some songs or had hard copies of the B-sides. heck, maybe they'll re-sell DLD. I'm hoping stuff like that. But until then, I don't really care, and i don't really care if people are joining.

See, that's the part that isn't very clear to me, as, I'm not sure anyone has said that something in the package is your absolute ticket into the M&G.

But even if it is, that's just one more thing to be annoyed about lol

Someone on Lifehousemusic said that she was at a concert and saw Bryce afterwards and asked him about the club:

...and we stumbled across Bryce and Ben. I asked Bryce for a hug, which he gave me instantly and we chatted for about 7 minutes or so. He and Ben were THE most approachable musicians I can think of. Not one moment of awkwardness to be found. I asked him a bit about the new fanclub, and they're pretty excited about this beautiful revamp of the site and all that the fanclub will offer. These guys aren't benefiting from the club, and they are still the same sweethearts as ever, with their heads and feet on the ground, not somewhere in the clouds. According to them, this is truly something that is intended to offer the most to their fans, like catering to them, but with a maintenance fee because costs can't just be absorbed, ya know. He seemed really genuine and sincere and those guys love their fans and take such good care of them.

So I guess the guys really think that we're going to like it.

The cost for the fan club is outrageous!!! What on earth could the people in the fan club possibly get that Lifehouse fans haven't already had or experienced? I know a few haven't had the pleasure to meet them but it's not because they don't want to, but it's because they don't have the opportunity. But still, the fan club is probably going to be a waste of money especially because we Lifehouse fans are sneaky and get what we want and will go to any lengths to get information.

I agree. I feel like everything is just changing all the sudden. With lhf being down, LH changing their fan relations. I'm scared too see what's next.

Honestly, I don't think much is changing at all. I think we can still do what we've been doing. Getting there early, claim a good spot, stay after and hang out and talk to the band. (which I have yet to do, Jason better not be sick next time, so that they'll actually stick around, hehe).

The fan club will probably just give extras to the people paying. An occasional chat or meet & greet (knowing LH they'll still hang out around the bus after the m&g), but with major gigs (like the ones with the Goos) it's hard for them to even find a spot to hang with fans, since it's all so big & shielded with gigs like that. I'm sure they do their best though. So if it's not organized in a m&g, then we wouldn't be able to get to them at all. It's just the way things work.

And the whole VT thing is available for anyone purchasing a ticket, even if you don't pay the $40, so I think it'll all work out fine.

If the Fan Club itself will be a worthwile experience I don't know. But I don't think it will change things too much, now that I have some more info about it.

I am not joining for now.. I think I'm gonna wait until their fall tour and see where they're playing. If the venue is not GA, then I might join to get in on the presale so I don't get crappy seats. I hate being in the back for LH.
